A lot of people look at me now, a healthy, fit, and slightly sassy, mom of 4 and assume I’ve never struggled with weight or health issues. Let me be brutally honest – that couldn’t be further from the truth.
My Weight Journey:
As a child, food was my companion, my comfort, my everything. I loved to eat, but “portion control” wasn’t in my vocabulary. Happy, sad, bored – there was always a reason to eat.
My youthful metabolism was my saving grace for a while. But then? Everything changed. When I stopped growing taller, I started growing larger.
The Diet Roller Coaster Began
At 13, I went on my first diet – Weight Watchers. I lost a few pounds, and that’s when my fixation on diet culture truly began. My adolescent through college years became a constant battle with diets:
- Jumping from one fad to the next
- Trying to force my body into what I thought it should be
- Feeling constant shame and disappointment
- Believing something was wrong with me

- Losing my confidence

Cue… My Scientific Transformation
At 22, I was tired of feeling blah: fatigued, bloated, anxious, and achy. . Tired of feeling like I couldn’t get a handle on my health even though these were supposed to be the best years of my life. So I committed to a complete lifestyle overhaul – no guidance, no roadmap, just pure determination.
I cut out processed foods, started exercising daily, practiced mindfulness, and became my own scientific experiment. What happened next was nothing short of miraculous. My long-standing symptoms – the ones doctors said were impossible to resolve without medications – disappeared within months.
This was the start of a journey that’s spanned almost three decades, and has worked for me through three pregnancies and perimenopause. I won’t pretend that my body hasn’t undergone changes as I’ve aged, but I’ve been able to feel well, and stay lean, fit and healthy in spite of all that life has brought my way.
My Mission: Breaking the Cycle
We’re facing a critical problem: We’re not taught how to eat. We’re taught to feed ourselves, but not how to nourish our bodies for health and longevity.
As a population, we’re getting sicker. Healthcare has failed us, especially women. Peri and menopausal women are basically cast aside as insignificant when it comes to health support. I refuse to let women feel like they just have to “live with it.”
My Mission: Breaking the Cycle
My first step in this journey was becoming a health-supportive chef so I could understand real foods and how they affected the body. I went on to earn a degree from the acclaimed Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition to ensure that I had the deepest understanding of nutrition science. And because I believe in the power of integrative health and holistic nutrition to save lives, I followed my traditional nutrition training with certifications from the Nutritional Therapy Association, the Functional Nutrition Alliance, the Institute for Functional Medicine, and the Association for Women’s Functional Hormone Health. All of that education means that I am unbelievably qualified in what I teach you, and you can trust that I am supporting you with science and evidence-based protocols!
